New graduate degree aims to upskill out-of-field STEM teachers

The Victorian Government has partnered with Deakin University in an effort to address the "critical and ongoing" shortage of specialist maths and science teachers.

A 2020 report found that nearly 19 per cent of Year 10 maths teachers were teaching out-of-field.

Under the partnership, Deakin will deliver a new graduate degree with funding from the Victorian Department of Education and Training.
