National Literacy and Numeracy week is a wonderful opportunity for all of us to celebrate the work and achievement of schools, students and parents in lifting learning outcomes in these foundational skills.

I do think, though, that we continue to underestimate the increasing challenges and complexity of being literate in our text ...

Simon’s extensive international career working as a teacher, principal and consultant culminated in his role as Head of St Michael’s Grammar School from 2000 to 2017. Simon led the school through a series of innovative reforms and spearheaded creative approaches to teaching and learning. Simon was named Lynda Gratton Australian Business Leader of Year by the Australian Human Resources Institute in 2012. He is a national fellow of the Australian Council for Educational Leaders and the Australian College of Educators. Simon joined The Song Room as CEO in 2018.
