Truancy is not new in schools by any means, but Auckland City Education Services (ACES) truant-free zones are an innovative way to try and prevent the high rates occurring in the growing city. EDUCATION HQ Reporter MICHELLE CURRAN speaks with ACES manager Karyl Puklowski about the community jumping on-board to try and lower truancy and get students either back at school or enrolled in a constructive alternative.
