The release of parliamentary figures identifying 150 independent schools receiving more funding than their determined need has raised concerns about the need for reform. It follows Federal Education Minister Simon Birmingham’s insistence that the current system is a “corruption” of the Gonski model distorted by special deals enacted by the previous Labor Government.
