Are numerical grades failing students?

I recently read a review of the new release by pop superstar Lady Gaga who has already achieved sales of 27 million with her previous work. 'Joanne' is her fifth album and is a follow up to 2014's Cheek-to-Cheek, her third consecutive number one in the USA. What did the reviewer think of it? I've no idea, I was so distracted by all of the numbers attached to the review, all I could remember were the statistics which defined the artist.
