Position Information

Bass High School is a co–educational 7–12 school of over 900 students. A Support Unit provides programs for students with mild and moderate intellectual disabilities and students with autism. The school serves a diverse student population including a large portion from a non–English speaking background. Equity funding targets school improvement and innovation supporting teachers to collaborate and share quality practice. Our teaching staff has a strong commitment to improving student learning and engagement through quality teaching, collective wellbeing, professional learning and a focus on literacy and numeracy. Parents, carers and a vibrantly diverse community play a valued role in the life of the school supported by the Parents and Citizens’ Association and the Community Liaison Officer. Our school library is an engaging learning hub, supporting literacy, research skills, and a culture of reading across the school. It is a welcoming and inclusive space for all students. 

Specific Selection Criteria

Approval to teach Library LIS or currently undertaking or enrolled in LIS qualifications approved by the NSW Department of Education.

Demonstrated capacity to lead and manage a dynamic school library that supports teaching and learning, promotes literacy, and fosters a culture of reading across the school.

 

Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, staff, and the wider school community.

 

Demonstrated organisational and administrative skills, including effective management of library systems, budgeting, and resource allocation.

 

 

Conditions

An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.

 

 

Special Notes

If applicable, engagement will be temporary until successful completion of the Teacher Library qualifications as recognised by the NSW Department of Education which must be completed within 24 months.
