Position Information
Belmore North Public School is located in Belmore. It is located 11 kilometres south-west of the Sydney central business district, in the local government area of the City of Canterbury-Bankstown. Belmore is part of the traditional land of the Bediagal people. The school serves a diverse multicultural community and has a total enrolment of 241 students, 95% of whom speak English as an additional language or dialect. A support unit of 5 classes caters to students with additional learning needs and is an integral part of the school. The school is supported with staffing and funding loadings for socio-economic disadvantage and English language proficiency. The school is also supported with staffing and flexible funding to support students with low levels of disability in mainstream classrooms. There is a strong focus on implementing evidence-based teaching practices and an emphasis on developing students' literacy and numeracy skills to achieve school targets. A dedicated staff provides extra-curricular activities for students to enhance their experiences at school. Extra-curricular activities include an environment club, homework club and robotics club. Arabic community language classes provide opportunities for students to maintain and develop literacy skills in their background language. A small but dedicated group of parents work hard to maintain an effective Parents and Citizens' association with whom the school works collaboratively and consultatively.
Specific Selection Criteria
1. Approval to teach K-6,and hold or currently completing a Teacher Librarian qualification approved by the NSW Department of Education with demonstrated capacity to promote critical and creative thinking, digital literacy and a love of literature through well thought-out resource selection and management.
2. Demonstrated capacity to plan, deliver and evaluate high-quality teaching and learning programs in the Digital Systems content group of the NSW Science and Technology syllabus.
3. Strong interpersonal skills to collaborate with staff on curriculum planning and the organisation of whole school events.
4. Demonstrated capacity to implement proactive management practices that maintain high standards of behaviour and promote a positive, inclusive, and productive learning environment in the library.
Conditions
An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.
