About the Role

The successful applicant will strengthen student wellbeing, engagement and inclusion while building staff capability and proactive student support practices. The Head of Department - Student Services will:

  • Lead whole-school approaches to wellbeing, inclusion, engagement and behaviour.
  • Work collaboratively with leadership, staff and external agencies to improve student outcomes.
  • Support Tier 1 practices aligned to the Eagleby Way, Eagleby Essentials and Project SOAR.
  • Build teacher capability in proactive classroom practice, engagement norms and evidence-informed approaches to behaviour and learning.
  • Support staff understanding of links between neuroscience, cognitive load, engagement and student success.
  • Use wellbeing, attendance, engagement and behaviour data to inform support and strategic improvement.
  • Coordinate targeted and intensive support within a Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS) framework.
  • Support development of students' Personal and Social Capability through explicit teaching and relational practice.
  • Work alongside teachers to strengthen calm, predictable and inclusive classrooms.
  • Contribute to priorities aligned to the Annual Improvement Plan (AIP), Better Futures and evidence-informed practice.

Key Skills and Attributes

We are seeking a candidate who:

  • Demonstrates highly relational leadership and strong interpersonal capability, with experience leading student wellbeing, inclusion and behaviour support.
  • Understands and applies neuroscience-informed, evidence-based approaches to learning, regulation and behaviour.
  • Has strong knowledge of Tier 1 practices and supports teachers to strengthen proactive classroom systems and engagement.
  • Coaches staff to implement evidence-informed strategies aligned to explicit instruction and engagement norms.
  • Uses data to identify trends, monitor impact and inform strategic responses.
  • Leads complex case management while maintaining strong relationships with families and external agencies.
  • Thrives in a collaborative, high-expectations environment focused on continuous improvement.
  • Demonstrates resilience, professionalism and commitment to equity and inclusion.
