Blue Mountains teacher honoured for acclaimed bushfire play

A high school teacher who used drama to help her students and community recover after the 2013 NSW bushfires has been honoured with the Blue Mountains Council’s Citizen of the Year award.

Madeleine Sheehy wanted her play to focus on recovery and looking for hope in the future, as well as fostering a sense of empathy in her students.
