Position Information
Nulkaba Public School is situated in the village of Nulkaba on the outskirts of Cessnock and is an active and proud member of the Cessnock Community of Great Public Schools (CCGPS), delivering excellence in student education and innovation in our teaching and learning practices.
Nulkaba has a current enrolment of 429 students, with approximately 20% of our student population identifying as Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander. Nulkaba is comprised of 20 classes, including 2 MC and 1 AU class. We strive for excellence and have high expectations for learning from all members of the school community, with students at the centre of all decision making.

The successful applicant will contribute to building a learning environment underpinned by evidence-based explicit teaching, data-informed practice and a strong focus on student wellbeing. The Teacher Librarian will lead and manage the school library as a stimulating learning hub, utilising both physical and digital resources and supporting the full P-6 curriculum.
Suitably qualified applicants to fill the position of Librarian 0.8 FTE are encouraged to apply.
Specific Selection Criteria
1: Approval to teach K-6 and hold or currently completing a Teacher Librarian qualification approved by the NSW Department of Education, with the ability to continue supporting a library that functions as a stimulating learning hub and inquiry centre for all students.
2: Demonstrated ability to collaborate with teachers to create innovative teaching and learning experiences whilst promoting critical and creative thinking, digital literacy, and a love of literature.
3: Demonstrated ability to manage student behaviour, engagement, and wellbeing in the library by establishing clear high expectations.
4: Demonstrated skill in managing a school library, including library management systems, digital technology and implementation of whole school events and programs aligned with the teacher librarian role.
Conditions
An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.
Special Notes
If applicable, engagement will be temporary until successful completion of the Teacher Librarian qualifications as recognised by the NSW Department of Education, which must be completed within 24 months.
Please note this position is 0.800FTE (4 days per week).
