Position Information
Edmondson Park PS is a new school that opened in Term 1 2023 and will form a part of an Educational Precinct of Preschool to Year 12, following the completion of the new high school next to Edmondson Park PS. The establishment of a new school is a 4-year process that requires high levels of creativity, problem solving, adaptability, consideration, and organisation.
We are a growing school community with a current enrolment of 934 students and the capacity to take up to 1200 students. Our current student population includes, 91% who are from a language background other than English and 2% who identify as Aboriginal. Edmondson Park PS is a P-6 site where the preschool is run by Liverpool Council.
Our school fosters a strong culture of collaboration, bringing together a mix of early career and experienced teachers who work in hub learning spaces. In these innovative environments, teachers regularly learn with and from one another, promoting professional growth and shared expertise. Professional learning is a core focus at the school, with ongoing opportunities for staff to deepen their understanding of the new curriculum. This is achieved through explicit teaching in bespoke, targeted collaborative sessions designed to support staff at all stages of their careers.
Specific Selection Criteria
Approval to teach primary English as an additional language or dialect or currently undertaking or currently enrolled in English as an additional language primary or dialect qualifications approved by the NSW Department of education.
Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively as a team to support the literacy and English language skills of EAL/D students, including New Arrival students, using knowledge of the ESL scales and incorporate EAL/D strategies into daily classroom practice.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build positive relationships with all members of the school community.
Strong understanding and application of departmental policies and procedures, including use of the EAL/D school Evaluation Framework, to plan for and implement improved whole school practices that align with school priorities.
Conditions
An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.
