Cecil Hills High School is a comprehensive coeducational high school in a growth area of south–west Sydney. The student enrolment of over 1300 students (Year 7 to Year 12) includes 85% of students from a non–English speaking background. The school has 1% of students who identify as Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander. The school proudly has a support unit consisting of seven classes. The main languages spoken at home are Vietnamese, Arabic and Serbian. The school is experiencing significant enrolment growth, and this is expected to continue into the future. The proposed Western Sydney Airport is in the school's drawing area and will provide significant employment and training links when constructed.

Specific Selection Criteria
  • Approval to teach English as an Additional Language or dialect or currently undertaking or currently enrolled in English as an Additional Language or dialect qualifications approved by the NSW Department of Education.

  • Highly developed communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to actively collaborate with students, staff and the wider school community to build positive relationships that support student outcomes and promote an inclusive school culture

  • Demonstrated ability to develop and implement high quality, engaging and effectively differentiated teaching and learning EALD programs and resources to maximise learning outcomes for students from diverse cultural backgrounds.

  • Demonstrated capacity to track student growth using the ACARA EAL/D Learning Progressions, and to contribute meaningfully to whole-school data collection and reporting practices.

 

 

 

Conditions

An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.
