Position Information

East Hills Girls’ Technology High School is a comprehensive secondary school enrolling students from Years 7 to 12, with a current enrolment of 790. It is the only specialist technology high school for girls in NSW and is also an Apple Distinguished High School, with students using iPads in class. The school’s Year 7 annual intake includes a Technology class. The school is linguistically and culturally diverse with 76% of students having a language background other than English and 2.4% of students who identify as First Nations.  

We provide a quality education, inspiring students to develop to their full potential and contribute to their community as informed, caring citizens. The community we serve are academically aspirational and supportive of their children’s learning. Students aspire to academic excellence by setting achievable and personalised learning goals.  

The school enjoys strong support from the P & C Association.

The leader of the CAPA faculty works collaboratively as a member of the Executive Team and lead their staff to provide excellence in all curricular and extra-curricular activities.  

General Selection Criteria
1. Successful teaching experience with capacity to initiate improvement in teaching, learning and classroom practice
2. Knowledge of curriculum, assessment and student welfare with the ability to lead and design quality, inclusive teaching and learning programs
3. Educational leadership skills to build the capacity and manage the performance of individuals and teams
4. Well developed communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build relationships and engage students, staff and parents
5. Ability to plan and manage resources effectively and equitably to support teaching and learning
6. Knowledge of and commitment to the Department's Aboriginal education policy
Specific Selection Criteria
Applicants must satisfy the teacher training and academic qualification requirements for this position. In addition to the general selection criteria, .  
  1. The candidate must be NESA accredited and has had success in teaching as well as leading others in pedagogical practices in at least one of these learning areas: Visual Arts, Music, Drama, or Dance.
  2. Highly developed leadership skills to build and lead productive school and faculty teams.
  3. Demonstrated expertise in engaging and promoting Creative Arts to students, staff, parents, and the community. 
Conditions

An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.
