We are recruiting on behalf of a specialist SEMH College Centre in Kirkham for a dedicated and resilient SEMH Teaching Assistant to work 3 days per week: Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. This role is ideal for someone passionate about supporting young people with Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs while benefiting from a consistent part-time schedule.
Key Responsibilities
Provide 1:1 and small group support to students with SEMH needsSupport learners to re-engage with education, routines, and emotional regulationAssist teaching staff with lesson delivery and differentiated activitiesApply positive behaviour support and de‑escalation strategiesSupport students both academically and emotionallyHelp maintain a safe, structured, and inclusive learning environmentRequirements
Experience working with SEMH, challenging behaviour, or additional needs(schools, colleges, PRUs, care, youth work, or similar settings)Calm, patient, and resilient approachStrong communication and relationship‑building skillsAbility to work effectively as part of a wider support teamTA qualification desirable but not essentialEnhanced DBS (or willingness to apply)What We Offer
