???? About the Role

We are working in partnership with a specialist SEMH provision in Dorking to recruit a passionate and resilient SEMH Teacher.

This is a highly rewarding opportunity to support pupils with social, emotional and mental health needs, many of whom may have experienced trauma, disrupted education, or behavioural challenges. The school offers a supportive and structured environment focused on helping pupils re-engage with learning and develop positive life skills.

????‍???? Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver engaging, differentiated lessons tailored to SEMH pupils
  • Manage behaviour effectively using a calm, consistent, and trauma-informed approach
  • Build strong, trusting relationships with students to support engagement and progress
  • Support emotional regulation and personal development alongside academic learning
  • Adapt curriculum delivery to meet individual EHCP targets
  • Work closely with teaching assistants, SENCo, and therapy teams
  • Maintain a safe, structured, and inclusive classroom environment
  • ✅ The Ideal Candidate Will Have

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent
  • Experience working with SEMH, SEND, or challenging behaviour
  • Strong behaviour management and de-escalation techniques
  • A calm, resilient, and patient approach
  • Ability to engage and inspire disengaged learners
  • Understanding of trauma-informed or therapeutic practices (highly desirable)
  • Experience in PRUs, alternative provisions, or special schools (advantageous)
