We are currently recruiting on behalf of a specialist school for an experienced and resilient SEMH Teaching Assistant to support pupils with Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs.

This is a rewarding opportunity to make a real impact on the lives of young people who require structure, consistency, and strong positive role models to thrive both academically and emotionally.

????‍???? Key Responsibilities

  • Supporting pupils with SEMH needs on a 1:1 and small group basis
  • Assisting with the management of challenging behaviour in a calm and professional manner
  • Building strong, trusting relationships with students
  • Supporting emotional regulation using a trauma-informed approach
  • Helping deliver tailored learning activities in line with EHCP targets
  • Working closely with teachers, SENCo, and external professionals
  • Maintaining a safe, structured, and engaging classroom environment

    • ✅ The Ideal Candidate Will Have

  • Previous experience working with SEMH, behaviour, or SEND pupils
  • Strong behaviour management and de-escalation skills
  • A calm, patient, and resilient personality
  • Ability to build rapport quickly with young people
  • Understanding of trauma-informed or therapeutic approaches (desirable)
  • A background in education, youth work, care, or similar (highly advantageous)
