About the Role

Veritas Education is working in partnership with a number of excellent secondary schools across Wakefield, and we are seeking confident, reliable, and engaging Cover Supervisors to support teaching and learning across Key Stages 3 and 4.

This role is ideal for individuals looking to gain experience in a school environment, including aspiring teachers, recent graduates, or those with previous experience working with young people. As a Cover Supervisor, you will deliver pre-prepared lessons in the absence of the class teacher, ensuring a positive learning environment and maintaining the high standards expected within our partner schools.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise classes during the short-term absence of teachers.
  • Deliver pre-prepared lesson plans and ensure students remain on task.
  • Manage classroom behaviour in line with school policies.
  • Support pupils in their learning and encourage positive engagement.
  • Report back to relevant teaching staff regarding student progress and behaviour.

    • About You

    We are looking for individuals who are:

  • Confident and positive in front of groups of young people.
  • Organised, adaptable, and able to remain calm under pressure.
  • Professional in approach and committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of students.
  • Comfortable following behaviour and safeguarding procedures set by the school.
  • Previous experience in education or youth settings is beneficial but not essential.
