Teacher shortage: how to attract our best and brightest to the profession

While everybody wants their children to be taught by the best teachers, they don’t want their children to be teachers. Following are some of the reasons I believe are behind the shortage and some steps which I propose could return teaching to a profession our brightest students want to enter.
