Beginning in early 2027, the Secretary to the Board of Trustees (Board Secretary) and Business Manager is a significant senior executive appointment with responsibility for the governance, administration and broad business operations of the School. Working closely with the Board Chair, Board of Trustees and Headmaster, the appointee will provide trusted advice, sound stewardship, leadership and disciplined oversight to support informed governance, organisational effectiveness and the School’s long-term strategic priorities.

Combining the responsibilities of Board Secretary and Business Manager, the role encompasses Board and committee governance; financial and property management; risk and compliance; capital works financing; business and information systems; human resources administration; catering and ancillary services; and oversight of a diverse portfolio of professional and operational leaders.

The successful candidate will bring sophisticated financial and commercial judgement, a strong understanding of governance and accountability, and the interpersonal maturity to build trusted relationships across the School. As a member of the Leadership Team, they will work collaboratively with the Headmaster and senior colleagues to ensure the School’s resources, systems and services enable its educational mission and continued development.

Key Selection Criteria: (Please make contact with the lead consultant before applying)

  • Demonstrated senior leadership experience in financial, commercial or business management within a complex organisation, supported by tertiary qualifications in Accounting.
  • Highly developed financial acumen, with demonstrated capability in budgeting, financial reporting, audit, investment, financial controls and the stewardship of significant organisational resources.
  • Sound understanding of contemporary governance, Queensland statutory accountability, risk and compliance, with the capacity to provide clear, concise and well-considered advice to a Board and senior executives.
  • Demonstrated ability to oversee a broad portfolio of corporate and operational functions, including property and facilities, people and culture, technology, procurement, business systems and service delivery.
  • A strategic and commercially astute leader capable of contributing meaningfully to organisational planning, capital works and the ongoing development of effective business operations.
  • An outstanding communicator who develops trusted, constructive relationships and exercises discretion, sound judgement and absolute confidentiality in sensitive matters.

Offered as a full-time executive role, applicants must be eligible to work in Australia and hold tertiary qualifications in Accounting. CPA qualification is preferred. The successful applicant will also be required to satisfy the School’s Working with Children, police check and driver licence requirements.
