About the Role:

As the William Ross SHS Business Manager, you will support the delivery of a range of corporate services and financial and human resource management. You will assist in leading systemic change by actively supporting the school leadership team and school community.

Lead the provision of executive and administrative support services—managing multiple tasks and diverse work groups amid conflicting priorities and timeframes, interpreting departmental policy, and overseeing training and professional development for school support staff—while reviewing and maintaining the processes and work practices of the school operations.

Lead and manage human resources for school support staff and undertake workforce planning across a full breadth of HR activities—recruitment, induction, training, vacancy processing, skill gap analysis, performance management and rehabilitation processes.

Drive financial planning, developing, monitoring and reviewing the annual budget, reporting regularly to the school leadership team, and ensuring financial activities comply with legislation and policy.

Lead infrastructure planning and project management, evaluating new works and renovation projects alongside the principal, negotiating with contractors, and managing minor works and grounds maintenance.

This role assumes a high level of interpersonal and organisational expertise, including the ability to consult, interpret, analyse, and adapt processes within the specific context of the school community.

Responsibilities:

  • Leadership: Work autonomously, lead diverse teams and ensure high-quality business outcomes.
  • Administration: Lead administrative services, manage competing priorities and improve school processes.
  • Human Resources: Oversee recruitment, induction, training, workforce planning, performance management and staff development.

  • Facilities: Manage facilities, minor works, grounds maintenance, projects and contractors.
  • Continuous Improvement: Identify more effective and sustainable ways to use resources.
  • Networking: Build strong professional and community networks and promote best-practice corporate services.
