Position Information

Merrylands High School is a comprehensive coeducational secondary school (enrolment 870 students, including 82% students from a non-English speaking background).  The school’s strategic directions are, Student Growth and Attainment, Collaborative Practices in Numeracy and Attendance and Connection. Specific Selection Criteria

Approval to teach Special Education and/or experience in teaching special education with demonstrated capacity in working with
students with autism, moderate intellectual disabilities, and with complex behavioural and communication needs.

Demonstrated ability to develop, implement and monitor quality personalised learning and support plans and
proven capacity to develop differentiated and innovative learning programs utilising knowledge of curriculum,
assessment and the Disability Standards for Education.

Evidence of high-level interpersonal skills and capacity to effectively communicate across all stakeholders within
the school context including parents/carers, external agencies and the wider community, to build positive and
engaging learning environments and enhance a culture of inclusivity.

 

Conditions

An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.
