Merrylands High School is a comprehensive high school in Sydney's South West with a growing population that currently sits at over 839 students. The school is proud to celebrate its cultural and linguistic diversity, with 87.3% of students having a non-English speaking background shared across a total of 45 unique languages. The school has 7 support classes, 3 Multi-Categorical and 4 Autism classes.

Specific Selection Criteria

Approval to teach English (Years 7-10), English (Years 11-12) and English Extensions 1 & 2.

Ability to plan, implement, and assess engaging English teaching and learning programs aligned with the NSW English syllabus that cater to diverse student needs and promote literacy development.

Demonstrated experience in creating a positive and inclusive learning environment that fosters student motivation, participation, and respect, while managing classroom behaviour effectively.

Ability to communicate effectively with students, parents, and colleagues, and to work collaboratively within a team to contribute to school improvement and student learning outcomes.

Conditions

An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.
