Position Information
La Perouse Public School, located in the Eastern Suburbs of Sydney, NSW, has an enrolment of 97 K-6 students and is committed to enhancing student learning and wellbeing through tailored programs. The staff prioritise Social and Emotional Learning (SEL) and implement evidence-informed literacy and numeracy programs to support student growth.
This 1.0 FTE (full-time) Itinerant Support Teacher Hearing position is based at La Perouse Public School. The role will be supervised by the Relieving Assistant Principal for Hearing (R-APH), who is also based at La Perouse Public School.
The successful applicant will manage a teaching caseload of students from diagnosis through to Year 12 across the Botany Bay, Kogarah, Marrickville, and Port Jackson networks. Support will be provided to students in preschools, primary schools, high schools, SSPs, and support classes.
The position requires travel between worksites, so the successful applicant must hold a current driver’s licence and have comprehensive motor vehicle insurance.
Specific Selection Criteria
1. Approval to teach in NSW public schools and qualifications to teach students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing or currently enrolled in Teacher of the Deaf training.
2. Demonstrated ability to develop, implement and evaluate high-quality inclusive learning plans that address the diverse needs of deaf and hard of hearing students, from diagnosis through to Year 12, across a variety educational settings, to support equal access to the curriculum for students who are deaf or hard of hearing.
3. Proven experience in building rapport and maintaining strong, positive relationships with families, schools and external agencies to support deaf or hard of hearing students.
4. Knowledge of and commitment to the Department’s Aboriginal Education policies and demonstrated experience working directly with Aboriginal families and students.

An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.
