Position Information

Cromer Public School is located on the Northern Beaches, Sydney, NSW. The school has an enrolment of 418 K-6 students (including a moderate intellectual class) and is dedicated to enhancing student learning and wellbeing through tailored programs. The staff focus on Social and Emotional Learning (SEL) and utilise evidence-informed literacy and numeracy programming to support student growth. The base school for this 0.8 FTE (4 days per week) Itinerant Support Teacher Hearing position is Cromer Public School. The position will be supervised by the Assistant Principal for Hearing (APH), who is also based at Cromer Public School. The successful applicant will be responsible for a teaching caseload of students from diagnosis to Year 12 across the Northern Beaches and some schools within the North Shore area. The successful applicant will be required to travel between worksites and have a current driver’s licence and motor vehicle insurance. 

Specific Selection Criteria

1.      Approval to teach Hearing Impairment from diagnosis to Year 12 across a variety of educational settings.

2.      Demonstrated ability to develop, implement and evaluate high-quality inclusive learning plans that address the diverse needs of deaf and hard of hearing students, from diagnosis through to Year 12, across various educational settings.

3.      Experience in building rapport and maintaining strong, positive relationships with families, schools and external agencies to support deaf or hard of hearing students.

4.      Knowledge of Key Word Sign or Auslan and willingness to use augmentative communication systems to support equal access to the curriculum for deaf and hard of hearing students.

Conditions

An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.
