Position Information
Braddock Public School, with 300 students including 32% Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander and 9% from non-English backgrounds, offers four support classes and has a FOEI of 159. The school emphasises inclusivity, equity, and excellence. A Wellbeing Hub, launched in 2024, uses Place Based Learning to boost student readiness and community support. Aboriginal programs are school-wide, supported by Positive Behaviour for Learning, Trauma-Informed Practices, and a strong Learning and Support Team. Staff collaborate closely and maintain clear communication with families. Continual professional learning and a collaborative culture focus on improving student engagement, motivation, and belonging.
Specific Selection Criteria
Approval to teach inclusive education and/or experience teaching students with mild to moderate intellectual disability and/or autism, including understanding current curriculum requirements and best practices for teaching students with diverse learning needs.
Ability to develop and deliver differentiated learning experiences incorporating explicit teaching practices with a focus on improving student outcomes.
Highly effective communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build respectful and professional relationships with students, colleagues, parents, and caregivers to foster a supportive and positive learning environment.
Knowledge of and commitment to the Department’s Aboriginal Education policies.
Conditions
An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.
