Position Information
Gledswood Hills High School is the new high school supporting the communities of Gregory Hills and Gledswood Hills. The school currently supports approximately 250 Year 7 and 8 students. The new school build is expected to be open in Term 1, 2027 with year 7, 8 and 9 students, and an additional year group will be added annually.
A supported learning unit (SLU) will be at the school in 2027. The first SLU class is an Autism class. The SLU is anticipated to also include multi-categorical classes.
This teacher position will be the inaugural SLU teacher appointed to the school. The teacher will be responsible for developing key curriculum for SLU students and assisting in the set-up of the SLU.
Specific Selection Criteria
1) Approval to teach Special Education in Autism, Behaviour Difficulties, Emotional Disturbance and Mild Intellect Disability Secondary.
2) Demonstrated capacity to differentiate curriculum and implement evidence-informed practices that support students with complex learning, behavioural, social and emotional needs.
3) Highly developed communication, interpersonal and organisational skills, with demonstrated capacity to work collaboratively with students, mainstream teachers, support staff, families and external agencies to contribute to the establishment of a new Supported Learning Unit class and strengthen inclusive practice across the school.
Conditions
An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.
