Position Information
Cartwright Public School is located in Sydney Southwest in the Liverpool region. The school has 229 students of which 76 % are from a language background other than English and 8.7% of the students identifying as Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander. There are 9 mainstream classes and 7 support unit classes catering for students with moderate to severe intellectual disabilities and Autism, supported by School Learning Support Officers (SLSOs). Students come from a range of diverse socio-economic backgrounds, and Equity funding is used to provide additional support and targeted programs to enhance learning outcomes across the school.
The teaching staff comprises a strategic balance of experienced and early career educators, collaboratively delivering a high-quality, evidence-informed curriculum. Staff are united in their commitment to the school’s vision, ensuring that every student is supported to achieve success. A consistent, structured approach to teaching and learning underpins the delivery of effective programs, resulting in strong outcomes for all students within a nurturing and inclusive environment.
The school adopts a whole-school Positive Behaviour for Learning (PBL) framework, promoting a positive culture anchored in the core values of being safe, respectful, and engaged learners. The school also participates in the Anxiety Project, building the capacity of teachers and parents to recognise and respond to signs of anxiety in children. Through everyday interactions, students are supported to identify their own physiological cues and are explicitly taught strategies to understand, regulate, and manage their emotions.
