Position Information

Hawkesbury High School is a comprehensive, co-educational high school, located in a semi-rural setting in the Hawkesbury District in Northwest Metropolitan Sydney. The school has 450 students in Years 7 – 12, including 11% Aboriginal students. The school has strong connections with the local community and is supported by a proactive and engaged parent body. The school has a strong focus on academic, vocational and wellbeing programs and it enjoys a strong and sustainable learning partnership with local primary schools. The successful applicant will work with an enthusiastic executive team, supportive staff and an engaged learning community that supports the social and academic development of all students.

From 2026 the focus of Hawkesbury High School's library is to become a central learning hub, supporting small group tutoring &  HPGE student driven learning.

Specific Selection Criteria

1. Approval to teach Library (Secondary)

2. Demonstrated ability to manage a school library serving as a dynamic learning hub, effectively handling digital resources and supporting diverse learning activities from small group tutoring to High Potential Gifted Education (HPGE) independent projects.

3. Highly developed communication and interpersonal skills, enabling effective collaboration with teachers across all subject areas to support a variety of whole achool and enrichment activities.

4. Knowledge of and commitment to the department's Aboriginal education policy. 

Conditions

An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.
