Position Information
Balgowlah Heights Public School was established in 1933 and proudly serves the local community of Balgowlah Heights and Clontarf. We currently have 705 students in Years K-6. There are 29 classes, one of which is a 5/6 Opportunity Class. The school has strong relationships with our Parents' and Citizens' Association and values parent/carer involvement in our school and their child's learning programs. We value student wellbeing and student voice; and promote respect, responsibility and personal best. Our school enjoys extensive grounds and resources. Opportunities in sport, music and technology enable our students to excel through a range of different experiences. A wide range of extra-curricular activities in areas such as band, dance, choir, drama, strings, coding, chess, debating and public speaking are provided. The successful applicant will contribute to building a learning environment underpinned by evidence-based explicit teaching, data-informed practice and a strong focus on student wellbeing. The Teacher Librarian will lead and manage the school library as a stimulating learning hub, utilising both physical and digital resources and supporting the full K-6 curriculum.
Specific Selection Criteria
Approval to teach Primary Library or currently enrolled in Teacher Librarian qualifications approved by the NSW Department of Education, with a commitment to deliver engaging library and information literacy programs.
Capacity and willingness to manage a school library, including library management systems and digital technologies.
Proven strong interpersonal, communication and organisational skills, with an ability to build positive and collaborative relationships with students, staff, parents and the wider community.
Demonstrated ability to manage student behaviour, engagement and wellbeing in the library by establishing clear expectations, through PBL.
Conditions
An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.
