Position Information
Dawson Public School, located in Western Sydney, serves a diverse community, with 280 K-6 students, 3 multi-categorical (MC) support classes, and 51 preschool students totalling 331 students. Our schools cultural diversity includes 52% of our students from non-English speaking backgrounds, 33% requiring EAL/D (English as an Additional Language or Dialect) support, and 18% identifying as Aboriginal.

Specific Selection Criteria
  • Approval to teach English as an Additional Language or Dialect (EALD), or currently undertaking or enroled in EALD qualifications approved by the NSW Department of Education.

     

  • Proven ability to use the NSW EALD Learning Progressions to support student learning and build teacher capacity.
  • Demonstrate understanding of the demands of working with diverse cultural backgrounds and the unique challenges faced by EALD learners.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with proven ability to collaborate with students, staff, and the wider community
Conditions

An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.

This is a permanent part-time position for 4 days per week 0.8 FTE (Full-time equivalent).
