Job Title: Part-Time Science Teacher (KS3/KS4)
Location: Ormskirk, Lancashire Contract Type: Part-Time, Term-Time Only
Role Overview
We are seeking a passionate and adaptable Science Teacher to join a specialist SEN school in Ormskirk, supporting pupils aged 11-16 with a range of additional needs. The successful candidate will deliver engaging and differentiated Science lessons that help pupils develop scientific understanding, curiosity, confidence, and practical learning skills.
This role is ideal for a teacher who is committed to creating an inclusive and supportive learning environment where every pupil can achieve their potential.
Key Responsibilities
Plan and deliver engaging Science lessons tailored to pupils' individual learning needsDifferentiate teaching to support pupils with SEN including ASD, ADHD, SEMH, and communication difficultiesTeach a broad Science curriculum across KS3 and KS4, including practical and investigative learning opportunitiesCreate a structured, nurturing, and positive classroom environmentMonitor, assess, and track pupil progress against EHCP targets and personalised learning plansUse creative and adaptable teaching strategies to promote engagement and progressWork collaboratively with Teaching Assistants, SENCOs, therapists, and external professionalsSupport pupils' social, emotional, and behavioural development alongside academic achievementEnsure practical Science activities are delivered safely and inclusivelyRequirements
QTS/QTLS (essential)Experience teaching Science across KS3 and/or KS4Previous experience working within SEN or alternative provision settings is highly desirableStrong understanding of additional needs including ASD, ADHD, SEMH, and communication difficultiesExcellent classroom and behaviour management skillsCalm, patient, and nurturing approach to teaching and learningEnhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one)Benefits
