Position Information
The new Medowie High School will open to Year 7 students only at the start of Term 1, 2027. Located in Port Stephens on Worimi Country, the school serves a vibrant semi-rural community.
Recognising the unique opportunities and challenges of opening a new school, the successful applicant will work closely with the principal and executive team to establish high-quality programs, systems, structures and processes to support excellence and equity. The role includes contributing to the development of a positive, inclusive and high-expectations school culture, while supporting the establishment of innovative and evidence-informed science programs and practices that promote student curiosity, inquiry and achievement.

Specific Selection Criteria
1. Demonstrated capacity to contribute to the establishment of a new school, including developing systems, structures and organisational processes that support high-quality teaching, learning and faculty operations within a science context.
2. Proven ability to lead innovative, evidence-informed science teaching and learning programs that promote student engagement, inquiry, practical investigation and achievement across a diverse range of learners.
3. Demonstrated capacity to build the capability and performance of staff through collaborative leadership, high expectations and effective management of complex or challenging situations, fostering a positive, accountable and supportive team culture.
Conditions
An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.
