Position Information

Oran Park High School, which opened at the start of the 2020 school year, is a future focused learning partnership with high expectations that meets the individual needs of all learners. Housed in brand new, state-of-the art facilities, the school has a strong focus on relationships, high quality and innovative teaching and learning, and links to the local and wider community, particularly the partner primary schools Oran Park PS and Barramurra PS. Built to meet the population needs of the Oran Park/Catherine Park/Gledswood Hills growth corridor, the school will eventually be home to up to 2000 students, including a Support Unit catering for the needs of students with Autism and Multi-Categorical diagnoses. The school currently has 1627 students and approximately 170 teaching and support staff. The school has developed strong partnerships with many organisations including the Narellan Aboriginal Education Consultative Group (AECG), Greenfields/Oran Park Town, Western Sydney University and the Australian Business and Community Network (ABCN). General Selection Criteria
1. Successful teaching experience with capacity to initiate improvement in teaching, learning and classroom practice
2. Knowledge of curriculum, assessment and student welfare with the ability to lead and design quality, inclusive teaching and learning programs
3. Educational leadership skills to build the capacity and manage the performance of individuals and teams
4. Well developed communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build relationships and engage students, staff and parents
5. Ability to plan and manage resources effectively and equitably to support teaching and learning
6. Knowledge of and commitment to the Department's Aboriginal education policy
Specific Selection Criteria
Applicants must satisfy the teacher training and academic qualification requirements for this position. In addition to the general selection criteria, 
  1. Demonstrated strong leadership skills with the capacity to inspire and guide a large, diverse and dynamic Human Society and its Environment faculty which teaches a wide range of subject areas, including VET courses.
  2. Excellent communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with staff, students, and the school community, to maximise student learning and wellbeing outcomes.
  3. Exceptional organisational skills to manage faculty operations, coordinate curriculum delivery, and support staff development and wellbeing.
  4. Proven capacity and vision to lead curriculum reform, including implementation of new syllabus frameworks within the Human Society and its Environment key learning area.
Conditions

An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.
