Position Information

Kurri Kurri High School is set in the semi-rural area of the Hunter Valley. It is a proud local high school that has served the community since 1956. Many families have generational patronage to the high school and these strong local links to community continue to offer opportunities for our students. The school population ranges between 900 and 930 including classes in our Special Education faculty. The school has dedicated programs for approximately 25% of students who proudly identify as Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander. The school's motto is 'Creating Futures', which embodies the range of pathways we aim to provide for our students. Student voice is valued and fostered through SRC, Interact, Clontarf, Dream Together and Junior AECG to help to make decisions in improving and shaping our school's future. 

General Selection Criteria
1. Successful teaching experience with capacity to initiate improvement in teaching, learning and classroom practice
2. Knowledge of curriculum, assessment and student welfare with the ability to lead and design quality, inclusive teaching and learning programs
3. Educational leadership skills to build the capacity and manage the performance of individuals and teams
4. Well developed communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build relationships and engage students, staff and parents
5. Ability to plan and manage resources effectively and equitably to support teaching and learning
6. Knowledge of and commitment to the Department's Aboriginal education policy
Specific Selection Criteria
Applicants must satisfy the teacher training and academic qualification requirements for this position. In addition to the general selection criteria, 
  1. Demonstrated expertise in leading others to develop inclusive HSIE teaching and learning programs that engage and challenge all students. 
  2. Proven capacity to lead the faculty through explicit teaching and effective assessment practices that improve student learning outcomes for all students. 
  3. Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively as a member of the school leadership team, supporting the implementation of the school's strategic directions

An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.
