Position Information
Broken Hill High School is a comprehensive high school with 452 students (24% Aboriginal) in Far West New South Wales. The school is proud of its academic, cultural and sporting achievements as well as catering for all students. The school has 6 support classes for students with learning support needs and an off-site resource the Broken Hill West Campus (tutorial centre) class. The school has an ongoing partnership and shares some senior curriculum with a neighbouring high school. Strong community ties are evident through the Parents and Citizens Association as well as partnerships with the Clontarf Foundation. The school has a strong welfare focus and is a High Potential and Gifted Education (HPGE) partner school.
General Selection Criteria
Specific Selection Criteria
Demonstrated educational leadership and capacity to work collaboratively with the executive team, school and wider community to lead and implement whole school explicit teaching initiatives.
- Capacity to lead combined HSIE and CAPA Key Learning Areas and support staff to implement culturally responsive teaching and learning programs that address student growth in literacy and numeracy in the context of a diverse cultural, socio-economic and rural high school.
- Ability to interpret data to lead the development and evaluation of school initiatives to improve the learning outcomes for a diverse range of students.
Conditions
A Relocation Support Payment of $5,000 up to $8,000 will be available for eligible applicants.
An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.
