Who We Are:
Cleveland Education and Training Centre is located within the Cleveland Youth Detention Centre, where teaching and learning are focused on maximising impact every day for every learner.
All staff participate in a comprehensive induction program and are well supported by a collaborative and experienced team.
The centre has three Deputy Principals who work closely together to lead and support the school community.
The team culture is highly supportive, with staff working collaboratively in a complex yet rewarding environment.
Step Into Your Next Chapter:
Cleveland Education Training Centre (CETC) operates as 48 week year, and has four rosters for teaching staff, including promotional positions.
As such, you must be available to work at least of one week of each of the school holidays during the school year.
Leave entitlements remain the same as mainstream schools though leave is taken at alternative times in order to provide coverage for the 48 weeks of the year.
Applicant must be able to work on a youth detention site and comply with all policies and procedures as stipulated by the detention centre.
Responsibilities include:
- Assist the Principal to lead the school community to develop, articulate and commit to a shared educational vision focussed on providing quality learning outcomes for all students.
- Deputise for the Principal when required.
- Uphold the deputy principalship as a values based, ethical and moral activity.
- Embed socially just practices in daily school life.

The Perfect Fit:
- Experience as a Deputy Principal or extensive experience working in a youth detention setting.
- Flexibility and being able to work as part of a close team.
- Understanding of young people from complex and challenging backgrounds. Ability to adhere to policies and procedures.
