About this job
Who We Are:
The Brisbane Youth Education and Training Centre (BYETC) is a unique Department of Education school located within the Brisbane Youth Detention Centre in Wacol.
Supporting young people aged 10-18, BYETC plays a vital role in empowering students to build knowledge, develop practical skills, and strengthen the values needed for positive decision-making and future success.
At BYETC, education is more than a classroom experience—it's a pathway to opportunity. Our dedicated team works closely with students to foster confidence, resilience, and a sense of purpose, helping them make constructive choices both during and beyond their time in detention.
Operating 48 weeks per year, BYETC offers a structured yet rewarding teaching environment. Teachers benefit from the same leave entitlements as those in mainstream schools, with scheduled breaks often occurring outside standard school holiday periods.
We encourage prospective candidates to connect with us and discover how BYETC's programs are shaping brighter futures through education and training.
