Veritas Education are recruiting a Communication & Sensory Support Assistant to join a highly regarded specialist school in Stockton-on-Tees supporting autistic and neurodivergent children and young people.

This is a rewarding opportunity to work alongside experienced specialist staff, helping pupils develop communication, engagement, emotional regulation and sensory processing skills within a structured and nurturing environment.

Your role will include:

  • Supporting pupils with communication and interaction needs
  • Promoting engagement in learning and daily activities
  • Assisting with sensory-based learning and regulation strategies
  • Encouraging social development and relationship building
  • Helping pupils develop confidence and independence
  • Working closely with teachers and specialist support staff

  • Patient, caring and resilient individuals
  • Graduates, support workers, care staff, youth workers or aspiring education professionals
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • A genuine interest in autism and neurodiversity
  • Experience supporting children, young people or vulnerable adults is beneficial but not essential
