About the Role

As the Business Manager (AO5), you will be a key member of the school leadership team, working in close partnership with the Principal to support the effective and efficient management of school resources and operations.

You will lead the strategic and day-to-day management of the school's financial, administrative and operational functions, ensuring alignment with departmental priorities, including the Brighter Futures strategy, and enabling high-quality teaching and learning.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Leading the development, monitoring and management of the school budget and financial planning
  • Providing strategic advice to the Principal and leadership team on resource allocation and operational priorities that links to our AIP
  • Managing school administrative systems, processes and compliance requirements
  • Overseeing human resource processes, including workforce planning and recruitment support
  • Leading and developing administrative staff to ensure effective service delivery
  • Ensuring effective management of school facilities, assets and procurement processes
  • Strengthening systems and processes to support efficiency, accountability and continuous improvement
  • Supporting data-informed decision making through accurate financial and operational reporting

The Ideal Candidate

We are seeking an experienced and highly organised professional who demonstrates:

  • Strong financial management skills, including budgeting, forecasting and resource allocation
  • Proven ability to manage administrative and operational functions in a complex environment
  • High-level organisational and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail
  • Ability to provide strategic advice and work effectively as part of a leadership team
  • Experience in leading and developing staff and building a positive team culture
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build effective relationships
  • Knowledge of, or the ability to quickly acquire, Department of Education policies, systems and processes
  • A commitment to supporting school's AIP and contributing to a high-performing school culture
