Position Information
Thirlmere Public School proudly sits on Dharawal Country and has been an integral part of its semi-rural community since 1888. We are a high-performing school with a strong culture of excellence, inclusion and high expectations. Our school currently has 445 students across 19 mainstream classes from Kindergarten to Year 6, with 15.7% of students identifying as Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander and 7.9% identified as EAL/D learners.
Our commitment to excellence was recently affirmed through External Validation, with Thirlmere Public School validated as Excelling in 13 of the 14 elements of the School Excellence Framework. We provide an engaging and challenging curriculum designed to support students to reach their full potential. A broad range of extra-curricular opportunities complements classroom learning, including band, drums, recorder, percussion, choir, dance, public speaking, robotics and PSSA sport.
Our highly committed staff engage in ongoing professional learning, collaboration and mentoring to continually strengthen teaching practice. Student learning and wellbeing are further supported through our Learning and Support Team, School Learning Support Officers, school counsellor, Wellbeing Officer and therapy dog.
Student voice and leadership are important features of our school. Students contribute to school decision-making through leadership opportunities including the Student Representative Council and environmental, library and technology leadership groups.
Our learning environments are supported by contemporary technology, including interactive LED touchscreens in classrooms and access to laptops, Chromebooks and iPads. Students also enjoy a range of outdoor and recreational facilities, including a synthetic soccer field, adventure playground and basketball court.

General Selection Criteria
Specific Selection Criteria
Proven ability to undertake the complex leadership and management role of an Assistant Principal, whilst balancing exemplary evidence-based classroom teaching practice.
Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills to lead, mentor, and inspire both experienced and early career staff, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and positive collaboration with all stakeholders.
Demonstrated capacity to lead evidence-based, data-informed teaching and learning practices, building staff capability and driving whole-school improvement to achieve measurable growth in student outcomes.
Demonstrated capacity to lead student-centred wellbeing and student behaviour management practices, alongside whole-school processes, resulting in enhanced student engagement and an inclusive school culture, working in partnership with the wider community.
Conditions
An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.
