Position Information
Calderwood Public School is a new NSW public primary school being established to meet the needs of the rapidly growing Calderwood community. The broader Calderwood development is a significant growth area incorporating new residential neighbourhoods, open space, community facilities and supporting infrastructure.
Calderwood Public School is scheduled to open on Day 1, Term 1, 2028. The school is being designed to accommodate at least 550 students and will provide contemporary, purpose-built learning environments to support high-quality teaching, inclusive practice and the needs of a growing school community.
The new school facilities will include 24 permanent modern classrooms and open learning spaces, three specialist support learning classrooms, a library, multipurpose hall, covered outdoor learning area (COLA), canteen, administration and staff facilities, together with landscaped sport and play areas. The inclusion of specialist support classrooms will provide capacity to deliver inclusive educational provision for students with additional learning and support needs. A multi-categorical (MC) class is confirmed for establishment in 2028.
Calderwood Public School is one of nine NSW sites selected for a co-located public, early learning service through the Building Early Education Fund. General Selection Criteria
1. High level educational leadership with the skills to lead and manage a complex public school focused on the delivery of high quality education
2. Ability to lead and manage rigorous and inclusive whole school teaching and learning programs
3. High level communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build positive relationships and engage all levels of the school and educational community
4. Ability to lead and manage the development and performance of staff to improve teaching and learning
5. Ability to plan systems and manage resources effectively and equitably to enhance teaching and learning
6. Capacity to lead staff in implementing the Department's Aboriginal education policy and to ensure quality outcomes for Aboriginal people
Specific Selection Criteria
Approval to teach. In addition to the general selection criteria,
Demonstrated capacity to establish and lead a strong, inclusive and high performing culture, with the relational capability and visible leadership to build identity, connection and confidence within a new school.
Extensive management experience with capacity to design, implement and sustain effective systems, structures and processes that enable the successful establishment, operation and growth of a new school.
Deep understanding of Department of Education priorities with demonstrated leadership expertise to translate these into sustained, high-impact practice within a school and across the community.

Classification Structure for Principals:
The Crown Employees (Teachers in Schools and Related Employees) Salaries and Conditions Award 2024 details the new principal classification structure based on complexity of schools which commenced in 2016. The classification and remuneration of our school principals is based on school complexity, as measured through each school’s RAM allocation. As part of the ongoing application of the new structure a review of thresholds and outcomes will occur on an annual basis. The principal classification for this school is Principal Level P3 for 2027.
