Position Information
Towradgi Public School has an enrolment of 150 students and comprises five mainstream classes and four support classes, including an Early Intervention class. The school strategically allocates funding to provide in class interventions that align with our strategic directions of high quality teaching and learning, inclusivity, and whole school wellbeing. Our key focus areas for ongoing improvement and development are enhancing student performance, strengthening teacher quality, deepening student engagement in learning, and promoting whole school wellbeing.
Towradgi Public School is recognised for its strong culture of inclusivity, respect for diversity, and commitment to meeting the individual learning needs of all students from Preschool to Year 6. Our student population includes 11% Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students and 32% students from an English as a Language Dialect background.

In addition to the Early Intervention support class (EI) for preschoolers, Towradgi Public School has a K-6 Autism (Au) support class, a K-6 Intellectually Moderate/Autism (IO/Au) support class and a K-6 Multicategorical (MC) support class. The Assistant Principal Support works in close collaboration with the Principal, Assistant Principal Wellbeing and Assistant Principal Curriculum and Instruction. They contribute to the school's strategic vision and promote an enabling and inclusive culture. The AP Support leads the educational programs and welfare for students with additional needs. The role includes mentoring teachers, coordinating support plans, strengthening partnerships and providing specialist expertise in disability and inclusion.
General Selection Criteria
1. Successful teaching experience with capacity to initiate improvement in teaching, learning and classroom practice
2. Knowledge of curriculum, assessment and student welfare with the ability to lead and design quality, inclusive teaching and learning programs
3. Educational leadership skills to build the capacity and manage the performance of individuals and teams
4. Well developed communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build relationships and engage students, staff and parents
5. Ability to plan and manage resources effectively and equitably to support teaching and learning
6. Knowledge of and commitment to the Department's Aboriginal education policy
Specific Selection Criteria
In addition to the general selection criteria,
1. Demonstrated ability to work effectively with school leaders, staff, and external partners to coordinate support and implement strategies for students and their families.
2. Experience in providing differentiated professional learning and supporting staff performance and growth in a respectful, collaborative environment.
3. Proven capacity to lead inclusive teaching practices, review policies, and implement strategies that support the participation and success of students with disabilities, ensuring compliance with legislative and system requirements.
Conditions
An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.
