Christmas budgeting project for teens - Life skills, VCAL
Resource Description
Christmas can be a time when budgets get stretched past breaking point. Young people sometimes feel obligated to buy expensive presents for friends and family, and don't realise how much they can cost once it is all added up. Without the use of a budget, Christmas spending can get out of control, and easily end up with teens having a debt on a store card or credit card that needs to be paid back in hte months ahead.
This simple Christmas budget project encourages teens to think about how to keep track of their spending and plan alternatives to buying expensive gifts. It introduces them to the language of budgeting and saving and promotes home made and recycled gifts as giving the gift of time rather than an actual present. The Christmas budget project will encourage teens to develop a spending plan before they hit the shops, so that the budget stays balanced this year!
