Thousands of child maltreatment cases missed due to school closures: US study
As many as 8000 reports of child maltreatment have been missed throughout the COVID pandemic in the United States as teachers were not able to pick up on key warning signs, researchers have found.
The researchers concluded with a conservative calculation that approximately 5500 to 8000 reports were missed during the pandemic, either because schools were closed or because children were not enrolled.
