Teachers as researchers: How to gather your own evidence via practitioner inquiry
Too many teachers are put off doing research due to perceptions of a 'gold standard' of scientific research – if it doesn’t involve control groups, questionnaires or pre-and-post testing, then it doesn’t count.
Professor Wall says teachers need to be more confident about positioning the practitioner as a researcher. “You don’t have to put on the metaphorical white coat,” she says. “Practitioner research is not lesser, it’s equivalent to other types of research.”
