Japanese language teacher uses music to boost student learning
Having listed ‘playing guitar and singing’ as interests on her resume, Japanese teacher Katrina Buttigieg found herself accepting an unexpected job offer at St Brigid’s Primary school in rural Victoria: the proposal was to teach ‘Japanese through Music’.
One Victorian educator arranged her curriculum in a way that introduced and reinforced Japanese language through songs – beginning with songs of greetings and class instructions and moving on to more complex language.
