Crayola Creativity Week is back again, taking place from January 22-28, 2024. The week-long, world-wide program aims to nurture young children’s minds, and give them space to let their originality shine with plenty of resources, giveaways and unique creator celebrity content.
As teachers start to prepare for the new year, and re-ignite children’s excitement for learning, Crayola encourages educators everywhere to sign up for Crayola Creativity Week and make use of the free program to inspire creative, hands-on learning across the curriculum.
Crayola Creativity Week ties to key learning objectives, spotlighting creativity through visual art, dance, STEAM, and literacy, with messages and experiences designed to inspire students and help children express their ideas confidently.
“I am so excited to share information about our upcoming Crayola Creativity Week,” said Cheri Sterman, Crayola’s Director for Education, and one of the top five child development experts in the United States. “Last year, over 3.5 million school children from 28,500+ schools in 77 countries participated, which is just incredible. Learning through cross-curricular, creative learning experiences, creativity is a mindset that helps students learn about themselves, others, and the world around them. Our theme for 2024 is “Creativity Connects Us”, with this year’s resources, activities and events centered around the new theme.”
The program, which targets Primary School aged children, has been designed to assist teachers in the classroom, and includes numerous new educational resources; a Teacher Guide, inspirational videos, daily challenges, downloadable Thinking Sheets, and most importantly the lively interactions between, and with, students. The learning experiences presented during the week, and in the extensions, can be implemented year-round and are intentionally aligned with education standards in multiple subject areas.
As well as spotlighting STEAM and Literacy, the daily content schedule is also focused on Self Expression, Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion, Social Emotional Learning and Kindness. Each day’s activities take around 30 minutes.
Students will learn from various celebrities, and join award-winning actors, iconic musicians, prima ballerinas, fashion editors, entrepreneurs and scientists in a read aloud and hands-on art making demonstration. They can complete the daily creative challenge using Crayola’s downloadable, printable Thinking Sheet activities, and there’s the opportunity for teachers to share their class’s artwork online using #CrayolaCreativityWeek to enter to win prize packs filled with Crayola products, books, tech, and more.
“We are continuing to support Crayola’s mission to nurture children’s creative mindset and bring more creative opportunities to children, as we know that when children apply creative thinking and express their ideas, every learning experience becomes richer and more engaging,” said Cheri.
