Are you an experienced and passionate Year 1 Teacher looking for your next opportunity in a welcoming and supportive primary school?

Veritas Education is working in partnership with a friendly primary school in Nelson to recruit an enthusiastic, committed and experienced Year 1 Teacher to cover a maternity leave from January 2027. This is an excellent opportunity for a confident teacher with a strong understanding of the Year 1 curriculum who can make a positive impact on pupils' learning and development.

The Role

This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced teacher who can deliver engaging, creative and purposeful learning experiences to a Year 1 class.

You will be responsible for planning and delivering high-quality lessons, supporting pupils as they transition into Key Stage 1, and creating a positive classroom environment where every child feels valued and encouraged to thrive.

Working closely with the wider school team, you will promote a love of learning, develop pupils' independence and ensure children make good progress academically, socially and emotionally.

We're Looking for Someone Who:

  • Holds Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
  • Has proven experience teaching Year 1.
  • Has a strong understanding of the Year 1 curriculum and expectations.
  • Plans and delivers creative, engaging and effective lessons.
  • Has high expectations for behaviour, achievement and pupil progress.
  • Can confidently adapt teaching to meet the needs of all learners, including pupils with SEND.
  • Builds positive relationships with pupils, families and colleagues.
  • Works collaboratively as part of a supportive team.
  • Is committed to safeguarding and promoting children's wellbeing.

    • Please note: This role is specifically suited to an experienced Year 1 Teacher. The school is not considering Early Career Teachers (ECTs) for this position.
