About the Role:

As the Workplace Health and Safety Coordinator, you will:  

  • Continuously improve the local implementation of the department's Health, Safety and Wellbeing Management System (HSWMS) to ensure compliance with relevant legislation and industry best practices.
  • Provide support to the nominated schools in health and safety including risk management, incident reporting and review and the rehabilitation and return to work coordination of ill or injured staff.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Monitor and enforce compliance with WH&S legislation and company policies
  • Conduct workplace inspections, audits, and risk assessments
  • Investigate incidents, hazards, and near misses, and prepare reports
  • Assist in developing and implementing safety procedures and programs
  • Deliver WH&S inductions, and staff training
  • Maintain accurate safety records, registers, and documentation
  • Support return-to-work and injury management processes
  • Liaise with management, employees, and external regulators as required
  • Promote continuous improvement in workplace safety practices
