About this job
Position Information
Greenethorpe Public School is a small rural school, situated on Wiradjuri land, between Cowra, Grenfell and Young. Our staff are committed to the pursuit of excellence and the provision of high-quality education for every student. Students learn in two multi-age classrooms four days a week, Kindergarten to Year 2 and Year 3 to Year 6, and one day as K-6.
Greenethorpe Public School is proud to be a member of the Cowra Small Schools Network. Through this partnership, our staff collaborate with teachers and leaders from other schools to enhance their teaching skills and share knowledge. Our students benefit from participation in a variety of network-wide activities, including sports days such as athletics and swimming carnivals, enrichment days focused on areas like Science and Technology, Music and Art, Health and Indigenous education. Students also have the opportunity to attend school camps and other events alongside their peers from other network schools.
Greenethorpe Public School has an active Parents and Citizens (P&C) group, made up of both parents and community members. The P&C works closely to ensure a collaborative partnership between home, school and the wider Greenethorpe community.
Our evidence-based approach to learning and wellbeing incorporates data-informed practices and support that centre on individual student needs. Our school's core values of Honesty, Kindness and Respect guide us.
In the area of Student Growth and Attainment, the focus is on developing explicit teaching practices in literacy and numeracy. Staff are being upskilled in the analysis of student data to inform their teaching, and in the use of the gradual release model—"I do, we do, you do"—to support student learning. Structures are also being put in place to ensure that our work with students is responsive to this data and is closely monitored.
Our focus on Collaborative Practice responds to feedback from the wider school community, gathered through various methods to help us understand Greenethorpe's unique situation. We are strengthening student wellbeing by promoting advocacy, fostering a sense of belonging, setting high expectations for success, and improving attendance through whole-school initiatives. Central to this focus is the development of strong, sustainable collaborative partnerships among staff, students, families, other Cowra Network schools, and the wider community, ensuring a united approach to achieving positive outcomes for all.
